🌞 Plan chaleur: our recommendations for your safety

🔹 Why these measures?

In the extreme heatBut if you're not careful, everyone's health can be put at risk, especially that of children and the frail.
The Domaine de Claire-Fontaine has set up a prevention plan to guarantee your safety and comfort.

💧 Our tips for safe enjoyment

🥤 Hydrate regularly

  • Drink fresh water every 15 to 20 minutes, even when you're not thirsty.

  • For babies: continue breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, offer water from 6 months.

  • Avoid sodas, coffee, alcohol and drugs.

⛱ Seek shade and coolness

  • Sit under a parasol or in a shady area.

  • Spend at least 2 hours a day in a cool or air-conditioned space, if possible.

  • Wear light clothing (cotton or light linen), a wide-brimmed hat and UV400 sunglasses.

🧴 Protect yourself from the sun

  • Apply a water-resistant SPF 50+ sun cream, and reapply every 2 hours and after every swim.

  • Have children wear a UV-resistant T-shirt and a cap under the vest.

🏃‍♂️ Adapt your activities

  • Prefer swimming and playing before 11am or after 5pm.

  • Avoid strenuous physical activity if the temperature exceeds 32°C or if the UV index is above 8.

  • Quiet games in the shade are preferable, especially for the little ones.

🏊 Safety around water

  • Keep an active eye on your children: always have a designated adult within arm's reach.

  • One adult for every child under 6.

🌡 How to react to heat stroke

✅ Warning signs :

  • very hot, dry skin

  • agitation, drowsiness, confused speech

  • temperature over 40°C, vomiting

🚨 What to do?

  • Put the person in the shade, cool them with damp cloths or water (15-20°C), and give them something to drink if they are conscious.

  • Call 112 immediately.

🚗 Important: never leave a child alone

  • Never leave a child (or vulnerable adult) in a closed car, cabin or tent.
In just a few minutes, the inside temperature can rise by more than 10°C and become lethal.

🔥 Fire prevention: protecting nature and visitors

The estate is surrounded by wooded and grassy areas, which are particularly vulnerable to fire in summer.

🚭 What is forbidden :

  • Smoking in natural areas (woods, paths, dunes).

  • Throw a cigarette butt on the ground or out of the window.

  • Barbecues and open fires.

  • Flying lanterns, fireworks and candles near vegetated areas.

🚗 Be careful where you park

  • Never park your vehicle on dry grass (risk of ignition from a hot catalytic converter).

  • Always keep firefighter access points clear.

🔥 In case of smoke or fire :

  • Move with your back to the wind, towards an open area or water.

  • Call 112 immediately, even if the smoke is just suspicious.

  • Never attempt to extinguish a vegetation fire alone.
